Study in Canada: How To Get Your Study Permit
Canada is home to some of the world's top-ranked universities and colleges, attracting students from all over the globe. If you want to pursue your education in Canada, you will likely need a Study Permit. Our team is here to guide you through the application process and help you achieve your academic goals in Canada.
What is a Study Permit?
A Study Permit is an official document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that allows foreign nationals to study at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. It is not a visa, but in most cases, you will also need a visitor visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA) to enter Canada.
Who Needs a Study Permit?
Most international students require a study permit to study in Canada. However, you may be exempt if:
✔ Your program is less than six months in duration
✔ You are a family member of a foreign diplomat in Canada
✔ You are a member of the armed forces from a designated country
If you’re unsure whether you need a study permit, we can assess your eligibility and guide you accordingly.
Study Permit Requirements
To apply for a study permit, you must:
✔ Have a letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
✔ Prove you have enough funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation
✔ Provide a clean criminal record (if required) and undergo a medical examination if necessary
✔ Show that you intend to leave Canada after your studies unless you apply for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP)
